We are happy to introduce our new website: www.homeopathynepal.com. The website can be read in 5 different languages: English, Dutch, German, Spanish and Catalonian. On the website the last information of the project can be found and also the contact members in the different countries.

In 15 minuten tijd hoor je hoe de laatste ervaringen zijn in het project; ik werkte er weer van half april tot half mei 2011.

Omdat veel mensen in NL en B geinteresseerd zijn in het project, hierbij ook een berichtje in het NL.

The English update is under the photos of the medical care in Namobuddha, a boeddhist Monastery, where we also provide medical care and homeopathic help. Also videos of our project are placed on this weblog.

Begin april hadden we de jaarlijks internationale meeting in Berlijn, van alle dokters uit Europa, die meewerken in dit project. Er werken nu artsen mee uit Spanje, Italie, Hongarije, Tsjechie, Duitsland, Nederland en Belgie. Zoals jullie weten werken alle artsen vrijwillig 3-4 weken in het project.

Deze maand vertrek ik weer naar Bhaktapur, om er te werken in de kliniek (supervisie), les te geven in het college, en vele dingen te regelen voor het project. Zo is er veel overleg over de bouw van de nieuwe kliniek, en moeten allerlei dingen geregeld worden met het ministerie van Volksgezondheid en Onderwijs, en de Professional Health Council. Ook zal ik waarschijnlijk weer een nascholing organiseren in Kathmandu in het Homeopathic Hospital. De vorige keer was de belangstelling overweldigend: een hele zaal vol met artsen en studenten.

De derde jaars studenten gaan nog 3 maanden op stage in ziekenhuizen, en ook dat moet nog geregeld worden. In een van de ziekenhuizen, waar ze stage kunnen lopen, is ook een vleugel voor bejaarde patienten, waar wij de medische verzorging voor doen. Toen ik er een keer met Dr. Ambika aankwam om 6 uur s'ochtends (!) voor spreekuur en visite, waren tot mijn verrassing veel ouderen bezig met hun dagelijks yoga in de grote zaal. Ook een kleine vrouw van 100 jaar, die soepeler bleek, dan menig 30 jarige in Europa!

Wij, als artsen van het project, danken iedereen voor de bijdrages aan het project. Alles komt terecht in Nepal, en wordt gebruikt voor de opleiding van Homeopathic Health Assistants en de verzorging van iedere patient ( ook de allerarmsten) in onze polikliniek. Er is gemiddeld 1 arts voor 80.000 mensen in dit land, en ter vergelijking: in NL en Belgie hebben wij 1 arts voor minder dan 800 mensen ter beschikking..... Met de beurzen voor de armste studenten, die bij ons Health Assistance kunnen worden is er een wezenlijke bijdrage voor de gezondheidszorg in dit land, ook in de armste gebieden.

Dear friends of homeopathy in Nepal,
First of all I want to wish all of you an inspiring, colourful and healthy 2011.
Last year there have been so many people helping us with the project in Bhaktapur-Nepal.
A lot of people sponsored the students and the facilities in the Clinic and in the College, and European doctors went again to work as a volunteer in the project.
Also organisations and individual persons gave us a special gift after the death of our beloved president of the project, Tinus Smits, who gave so much of his energy to this project for many years. In the short videofilms on the weblog, you can see his dedicated contribution.
The gifts show the appreciation for his work, and for this project, and we all hope we can continue to work on his dream to make homeopathy available for all people in this beautiful country, and to bring better medical care in the remote areas.
Dr. Ortrud Lindemann, one of the founders of the project, just returned from Bhaktapur. She had a very intense stay: a lot of things had to be organised. The Homeopathic Health Assistant (HHA) College has now started its third year.
That means that we have students in all three levels of the HHA training, most of them being highly motivated to become good homeopathic health assistants. For most of the students this is the only chance for them to study, with the help of the European sponsors. They are willing to bring all their knowledge to the area, where they come from; remote areas with a severe lack of medical care. In some areas of Nepal, there is only one doctor for 200.000 people. Can you imagine: in Europe we have 3.3 doctors for 1000 people!
The clinic, the college, the administration, the labs and the sleeping room for the European doctor are all in one building, the white building on the video, and as you can believe, this building is getting too small for all these functions. Happily there is ground to build a new building in Bhaktapur area.
In 2011 we want to realise the first floor of this building, where both clinic and college will have room, with library, labs and all the facilities needed for the College, recognised by the Government. There are some strict rules about location and equipment of the teaching institute and for the official recognition in the future we have to fulfil them.
This year will be an important year for the project. Now Xavier, a doctor from Spain, is working in Bhaktapur and in April/May I myself will go again. We all hope we can continue our work with your help.

In Memoriam Tinus Smits

On April 1 2010 our former president of the BHC passed away. He was surrounded by his wife, his sons and their families, and he died in peace at his home. We greatly honour him for all the work he did for the BHC. Also we thank him for encouraging us, the European doctors, who work as a volunteer in this beautiful project.

The people from Nepal thanked him especially , and they had a service for him as well on April 5, the same day of the funeral in Waalre- Holland.

On behalf of all Nepali people and our team we would like to HEARTILY THANK Dr.Tinus Smits for his noble work he did for the development of Homoeopathy in Nepal.

He has played a vital role to establish and run the 1st project Bhaktapur International Homoeopathic Clinic starting from 1995 till 2001, successfully. Thousands of patients got benefited by the treatment from the clinic and 10 Nepalese students got the opportunity to learn about classical homoeopathy for five years. Now they are practicing homoeopathy independently.

After the completion of the 1st project, with Dr.Tinus’ initiation and support we were able to start Bhaktapur homoeopathic clinic in 2005 and finally after 4 years of continuous effort we got the approval to start homoeopathic college. From last year 2009 we have started our 1st batch of homoeopathic student. There were times when we got discouraged and were even thinking of giving up but Dr.Tinus was always there for us to support us, encourage us - morally, physically and financially in his every possible way. Then with his support we could start all over again with much enthusiasm and the eagerness to follow the dream to spread and flourish homoeopathy.

In spite of his very busy schedule he always managed to come to Nepal once a year for a month. Within that period he was able to treat many Nepali patients, provide seminars, teach students about inspiring homoeopathy, Cancer treatment, treatment for Autistic Children etc. Many cancer cases got better from his treatment and also we could see the miracle in Autistic children.

To be a Homoeopath is not a easy task, one has to face many challenges and in the context of Nepal its more difficult since people do not know much about of homoeopathy but what we know is homoeopathy is the path of truth, truth has to face hurdles and many difficulties but truth always wins. In the same way it is difficult for us to start with but we know one day the dream shared by Dr.Tinus will come true. We will be able to run our college independently and we will be able to treat poor people of villages/people all over Nepal by Nepalese homoeopath and even to start a homoeopathic hospital in long run.

We all love Dr. Tinus; he is always in our heart. Thanks word alone is not enough for what you he has done to us and for the sake of homeopathy in Nepal.
